Bobby Wadkins wins with closing birdie

NAPLES, Fla., Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Bobby Wadkins rolled in a 14-foot birdie putt on the final green Sunday to defeat Allen Doyle by one shot and capture the ACE Group Classic at Naples, Fla.

Wadkins won for the third time in the last two seasons after having never won on the regular PGA Tour.

Doyle led by one shot going into the closing round, but Wadkins birdied seven of the last 10 holes to shoot a 4-under 68. He had a 54-hole total of 15-under 201.

Doyle finished alone in his second, his 30-foot birdie effort at the 18th hole coming up eight inches short.

Eduardo Romero and Mike Reid shared third place at 203.
