OAKLAND, Calif., Feb. 22 (UPI) -- The Oakland Raiders Thursday released Aaron Brooks, who compiled an 0-8 record as the team's starting quarterback last season.

Brooks completed 57 percent of his throws in 2006 for 1,105 yards and three touchdowns along with eight interceptions.

Oakland went 2-14, the worst record in the NFL.

After starting the first two games of the season, Brooks suffered a shoulder injury that kept him out for half the campaign. His return to the lineup met with no success.

Brooks played six seasons with the New Orleans Saints before coming to Oakland.

Andrew Walter started the other eight games for the Raiders last season. If it chooses, Oakland will have its pick of top quarterbacks in the NFL Draft since the Raiders own the No. 1 selection.
