Defending champ ousted in Rotterdam

ROTTERDAM, Netherlands, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Philipp Kohlschreiber won two tiebreakers Thursday to beat defending champ Radek Stepanek in the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Kohlschreiber reached the quarterfinals with a 7-6 (14-12), 7-6 (8-6), decision that ended Stepanek's six-match winning streak in the event.

The top three seeds all moved into the round of eight Thursday.

No. 1 seed Nikolay Davydenko ousted Marc Gicquel, 6-3, 6-3; second-seeded Tommy Robredo defeated Rik De Voest, 6-0, 6-4; and Ivan Ljubicic defeated Olivier Rochus, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4).

Davydenko will meet Kohlschreiber in the quarterfinals.
