KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Feb. 21 (UPI) -- Ramar Smith hit a crucial jump shot in overtime Wednesday night as Tennessee edged No. 25 Alabama, 69-66.
Chris Lofton led the Volunteers with 20 points, although he made just six of 22 attempts from the field. JaJuan Smith contributed 16 points and Wayne Chism had 11 for Tennessee (19-9, 7-6 Southeastern Conference).
Tennessee has won four of its last five.
Smith's basket with 35 seconds left in the extra period gave Tennessee a three-point lead, after which Jermareo Davidson made two free throws for Alabama with 9.6 seconds remaining.
The Crimson Tide failed to foul Tennessee and Duke Crews broke free for a dunk just before the buzzer.
Mykal Riley scored 15 to lead Alabama (19-8, 6-7).
