SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 21 (UPI) -- San Francisco Giants slugger Barry Bonds told reporters at spring training in Arizona he isn't at all worried about the steroids investigation against him.
Bonds, who could face indictment this year amid allegations he perjured himself by telling a 2003 federal grand jury that he used steroids unknowingly, said he doesn't believe the investigation will result in charges, USA Today reported Wednesday.
"Let them investigate," Bonds said in Scottsdale, Ariz. "Let them. They've been doing it this long. I'm not concerned about it at all. It doesn't weigh on me at all," he said. "It's just you guys talking. It's just media conversation."
Teammate Barry Zito said Bonds, who is just 22 home runs away from Hank Aaron's all-time record of 755, does not feel the pressure from the investigation, the New York Post reported
"He doesn't feel it. Everyone sees this and they go, ah, Barry's got all these things on his shoulders. But if he processed it in that manner, he wouldn't be able to perform at the level he does," Zito said. "The masses don't understand how his mind works, how he compartmentalizes things."
