NHL: Montreal 3, Columbus 2

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- Jaroslav Halak made 31 saves on 33 sots Sunday in his NHL debut to guide Montreal to a 3-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Minnesota scored all of its goals in the second period, courtesy of Michael Ryder, Saku Koivu and Francois Bouillon.

Ryder and Koivu added one assist each for the Canadiens, who broke a six-game losing streak.

Nikolai Zherdev and Gilbert Brule both scored third-period goals, while Pascal Leclaire made 25 stops on 28 shots for the Blue Jackets, who have lost six of eight.

Bouillon and Ryder scored the game's two power-play goals.

Columbus went 2-4 on its franchise-long six-game home stand.
