NHL: Philadelphia 5, N.Y. Rangers 3

PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Simon Gagne and Geoff Sanderson each had a goal and an assist Saturday as Philadelphia topped the New York Rangers, 5-3.

Sanderson and R.J. Umberger sandwiched goals around one by New York's Marcel Hossa, as Philadelphia took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.

Gagne's 31st goal of the season gave Philadelphia a 3-1 lead after two periods, and both teams scored twice in the third.

Umberger, Dimitry Afanasenkov and Scottie Upshall all scored once. Antero Niittymaki made 40 saves on 43 shots for the Flyers, who have won three of their last four games.

Petr Prucha and Matt Cullen scored goals, Daniel Girardi had two assists, and Henrik Lundqvist stopped 14-of-17 shots before leaving after two periods. In relief, Stephen Valiquette made six saves on eight shots for the Rangers, who had a three-game winning streak snapped.

Prucha had the game's only power-play goal.
