ANTWERP, Belgium, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Amelie Mauresmo and Kim Clijsters won their matches Friday at the WTA's Proximus Diamond Games Tennis Tournament at Antwerp, Belgium.
Mauresmo, the top seed and -- like Clijsters, a former World No. 1 -- pounded sixth-seeded Russian Dinara Safina, 6-1, 6-3. Clijsters, the second seed, trounced eighth-seeded Serbian Ana Ivanovic, 6-2, 6-1.
Clijsters, a heavy fan favorite before a home crowd, is playing her last tournament in Antwerp as she plans to retire after this season.
Mauresmo's semifinal opponent Saturday will be the seventh-seeded Chakvetadze. Clijsters faces Golovin.
The winner of Sunday's final will claim a winner's check of $88,265.
