INDIANAPOLIS, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Jamaal Tatum scored a game-high 20 points Saturday afternoon as 15th-ranked Southern Illinois beat No. 12 Butler, 68-64.
Matt Shaw had 15 points and six rebounds, Tony Young had 11 points and four rebounds, Tatum had two rebounds and four assists, and Randal Falker had seven rebounds and three blocked shots for the Salukis (23-5), who have won nine straight games.
They had a 30-25 halftime lead, and led by at least three points the entire second half.
It was the first time SIU beat a ranked team on the road since beating No. 16 Michigan Dec. 19, 1975.
Mike Green led Butler with 18 points and seven rebounds. Pete Campbell scored 17 points, and Brandon Crone added 13 points and four rebounds for the Bulldogs, who have lost two of their last three and saw their 22-game home winning streak broken.
