LUTZ, Fla., Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Tom Eger shot 4-under 67 Friday and has the lead after the first round of the Champions Tour's Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am Golf Tournament at Lutz, Fla.
Eger started quickly, sinking six-foot birdie putts on each of the first two holes.
"The score is great," said Eger, a two-time winner on the Champions Tour. "(But) I wasn't very happy with the way I have hit the ball off the tee. I hit some very good irons, but I didn't hit a lot of good tee shots. I seemed to hit the ball from four to eight feet a lot for birdies all day."
Tom Wargo, whose last tour win came in 2000, is second at 3-under 68. Wayne Levi, Jay Haas and John Harris are locked in a tie for third at 2-under 69.
Mark O'Meara, who is making his Champions Tour debut this week, opened with a 3-over 74.
