Bammer opens with win in Antwerp

ANTWERP, Belgium, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Sybille Bammer followed up her win in Thailand last week with a first-round victory over Caroline Maes Tuesday at the Proximus Diamond Games in Belgium.

Bammer dispatched the Belgian wild card 6-2, 6-0 to move on to the second round of the $600,000 Proximus tourney and won her sixth consecutive match going back to last week's Pattaya City event.

Also advancing Tuesday was France's Tatiana Golovin, who knocked off Katarina Srebotnik 6-0, 6-2.

Olga Poutchkova won her first-round match and will face Belgian Kim Clijsters in the second round.
