ANTWERP, Belgium, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Sybille Bammer, coming off a tournament championship in India, dropped two games Tuesday in posting a first-round win at the Proximus Diamond Games in Belgium.
Bammer ran her winning streak to six matches by ousting Caroline Maes, 6-2, 6-0. She won the event last week at Pattaya City and also has a victory over Serena Williams in a pre-Australian Open tournament this year.
Tatiana Golovin was just as impressive in winning her first-round match Tuesday, ousting Katarina Srebotnik, 6-0, 6-2.
The Proximus top seeds were given first-round byes and include Amelie Mauresmo, who is a two-time defending champion of the event. She would win a diamond-studded racquet if she takes the tournament in 2007.
