NHL: Minnesota 4, Florida 2

ST. PAUL, Minn., Feb. 9 (UPI) -- Brent Burns had a goal and an assist Thursday night to help the Minnesota Wild beat the Florida Panthers, 4-2.

Mark Parrish and Todd White scored in the second period to give Minnesota a 2-0 lead at the second intermission.

Pavol Demitra made it 3-0 at 6:35 of the third before Florida got goals from Martin Gelinas and Nathan Horton to come within 3-2 at 11:28 of the third.

Brett Burns scored on the power play with about six minutes left in the contest. Branko Radivojevic added three assists, and Niklas Backstrom allowed two goals on 41 shots for the Wild, who have won four of their last five games.

Horton added one assist, and Ed Belfour gave up four goals on 35 shots for the Panthers, who have dropped four of their last five games.

Demitra and Burns scored the game's power-play goals.
