COL BKB: Pittsburgh 60, West Va. 47

MORGANTOWN, W.Va., Feb. 7 (UPI) -- Sam Young scored a career-high 21 points Wednesday night to lead sixth-ranked Pittsburgh to a 60-47 win over archrival West Virginia.

Pitt held a 27-17 halftime lead after limiting WVU to 24 percent shooting in the first half.

The lead dwindled to 49-45 with just under five minutes left, but West Virginia scored only two points the rest of the contest.

Aaron Gray had 14 points and nine rebounds, Ronald Ramon had 10 points and three rebounds, and Young had seven rebounds for the Panthers (21-3, 9-1 Big East), who have a four-game winning streak.

Da'Sean Butler led the Mountaineers (18-5, 7-4) with 14 points. Frank Young -- the only other West Virginia player in double figures -- added 12 points and three rebounds for the Mountaineers, who had a four-game winning streak snapped.
