NHL: New Jersey 3, NY Rangers 2 (SO)

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Feb. 6 (UPI) -- Brian Gionta scored the only goal of the shootout Tuesday as the New Jersey Devils defeated the New York Rangers, 3-2.

Paul Martin and Zach Parise also scored for the Devils, who have won three straight games. Martin Brodeur stopped 28 shots in regulation and all three he faced in the shootout for his 33rd win of the season.

Karel Rachunek and Jaromir Jagr scored goals for the Rangers, who have lost their last four games.

Henrik Lundqvist stopped 19-of-21 shots in regulation then gave up the lone goal in the final round to drop to 21-19-2 on the year.
