OKLAHOMA CITY, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Chris Paul had 24 points and eight assists Friday night, as the New Orleans Hornets beat Minnesota, 90-83.
Tyson Chandler finished with 16 points, 18 rebounds and four blocks, and Jannero Pargo scored 13 points for the Hornets. Desmond Mason had 12 points and seven rebounds and David West scored 10 for New Orleans.
The Hornets opened strong, racing to a 12-3 lead in the first four minutes, but the Timberwolves hung tough and closed the gap to 48-45 at the half. Minnesota took its first lead of the game, 59-58, after staging a 10-2 run in the third quarter, but the Hornets put on an 8-2 run of their own to close out the third period with a 66-61 lead.
The Timberwolves made it a one-point game in the fourth, but the Hornets went off on a 9-0 tear to put the game out of reach.
