Bengals CB Joseph arrested

CINCINNATI, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Johnathan Joseph was arrested Monday and charged with possession of marijuana.

He is the ninth Bengals player arrested in the last 13 months and the fifth Cincinnati player from the draft classes of 2005 and 2006 to be arrested, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.

The team had no comment on the latest incident, citing a policy regarding legal concerns of a player, the newspaper said.

The Enquirer said Joseph arrested about 2:15 a.m. after a traffic stop involving a car in which he was riding. The woman driving the car told police she was eating when she was stopped. Officers alleged the car was weaving across lanes of traffic at a slow rate of speed. The driver was charged with careless driving and operating on a suspended license.

Joseph was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana after police allegedly smelled marijuana during the traffic stop and checked a backpack in the vehicle. He was released from the Boone County jail but a court appearance has not been scheduled, the Enquirer said.
