COL BKB: Memphis 61, East Carolina 44

GREENVILLE, N.C., Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Jeremy Hunt and Doneal Mack combined for 31 points Saturday, leading the No. 18 Memphis Tigers to a 61-44 Conference USA win over the East Carolina Pirates.

The Tigers won their seventh consecutive game despite shooting 31 percent (17-of-55) from the field. Memphis is 15-3 overall and 5-0 in Conference USA.

East Carolina (5-12, 0-4) dropped its fourth straight.

The Pirates were ahead, 28-24, three minutes into the second half before Memphis put together a 23-4 spree over a six-minute period. Hunt finished the run with a jumper that was worth a 47-32 Memphis lead with 11:13 to go.

All the missed shots were a boon for Memphis rebounding as three Tigers, including Joey Dorsey with 15, reached double figures in rebounds. Hunt won the scoring derby with 16 points and Mack added 15 for Memphis.

Robert Dozier had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Antonio Anderson had 11 rebounds.

John Fields was the lone Pirate in double figures with 14 points.
