Wilson reaches one-year deal with Braves

ATLANTA, Jan. 18 (UPI) -- First baseman/outfielder Craig Wilson and the Atlanta Braves areed to terms on a one-year contract, the National League team said Thursday.

Wilson is expected to take the place of first baseman Adam LaRoche, who was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates this week.

Wilson hit .251 with 17 home runs and 49 RBI over 125 games with the Pirates and New York Yankees last season.

The 30-year-old has a career .265 batting average with 98 home runs and 290 RBI in 674 games, all with Pittsburgh and New York. He has played catcher in addition to first base and the outfield and has 12 career pinch-hit home runs.
