COL BKB: Auburn 83, Tennessee 80

AUBURN, Ala., Jan. 18 (UPI) -- Quan Prowell fueled an 18-point run that carried the Auburn Tigers to an 83-80 upset of No. 24 Tennessee Wednesday night in a Southeastern Conference game.

Tennessee (13-5, 1-2 SEC) led, 66-52, midway through the second half when Auburn (12-7, 2-2) started its comeback.

Frank Tolbert and Rasheem Barrett each had field goals before Quantez Robertson connected on a three-point shot. Prowell scored four straight points and Barrett completed a three-point play to pull the Tigers even at 66-66 with 5:07 left.

Prowell hit a three-point shot and Josh Dollar's free throw completed the run for a 70-66 Auburn lead with 3:30 to go. Four late Prowell free throws -- two because of a technical foul on Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl -- iced the game.

Tolbert finished with 24 points and Prowell had 21 for Auburn.

Chris Lofton paced the Volunteers with 22 points while Ramar Smith chipped in 19 points and JaJuan Smith had 16 for Tennessee.
