NHL: Columbus 5, Chicago 4 (OT)

CHICAGO, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- Jason Chimera's goal 2:31 into overtime lifted the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 5-4 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks Tuesday night.

Chimera's ninth goal of the season came midway through the overtime as the Blue Jackets launched a 3-on-1 breakaway that culminated with Chimera firing a wrist shot from the right-side circle.

Bryan Smolinski scored a pair of goals from the Blackhawks, including the one that tied the game 4-4 late in the third period. Patrick Sharp and Jimmy Vandermeet also scored for Chicago, which fell to 0-6-1 in the last seven contests.

Joe Motzko, Sergei Federov, and Fredrik Modin accounted for the rest of the Columbus scoring while Fredrik Norrena and Ty Conklin teamed up in goal for the win.
