NHL: Nashville 4, Columbus 1

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Chris Mason made 39 saves, including 22 in the final period, Saturday as the Nashville Predators defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets, 4-1.

Jerred Smithson scored two goals and Scott Nichol had a pair of assists for the Predators, who won despite being out-shot, 40-17, equaling a season-high with their fifth straight win.

Shea Weber also scored for Nashville, which moved to 5-0 this season against Columbus.

Ron Hainsey scored the lone goal for the Blue Jackets, who lost their fourth game in a row.

Goalie Fredrik Norrena allowed three goals on nine shots in the first period before being replaced. Ty Conklin worked the second and part of the third for Columbus, and then Norrena came back in and finished the night.
