NBA: Houston 90, Denver 86

DENVER, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Shane Battier hit a three-pointer with 48 seconds left to put Houston in front Friday night and the Rockets fought off Denver, 90-86.

Battier's basket broke an 86-86 tie and the Nuggets were unable to score the rest of the way.

Yakhouba Diawara missed a three-pointer for Denver with five seconds left and Luther Head made one of two free throws with a second remaining for the final score.

Houston won its third straight while Denver has lost two in a row.

Battier led Houston with 25 points and Allen Iverson paced the Nuggets with 28.
