NHL: Carolina 6, Florida 4

RALEIGH, N.C., Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Chad LaRose started a five-goal, third-period onslaught Thursday night that rallied the Carolina Panthers to a 6-4 win over Florida.

Carolina goaltender Cam Ward gave up three goals on 31 shots before being replaced by John Grahame, who had to make only six third-period saves to get the victory.

The Hurricanes came from three goals behind to win, something they had not done in eight seasons.

Eric Cole, Scott Walker, Craig Adams, Cory Stillman and Ray Whitney also scored for Carolina.

Walker tied the game at 3-3 8:02 into the final period, and Stillman made it 4-3 less than a minute later. The five-goal outburst was capped when Adams scored on a backhand at 9:58.
