COLUMBUS, Ohio, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Receiver Anthony Gonzalez said Thursday he plans to leave Ohio State University at the end of his junior year this spring to participate in the NFL Draft.
Two other members of the Buckeyes, leading receiver Ted Ginn Jr. and running back Antonio Pittman, could make similar announcements in the next few days, the Columbus Dispatch reported. Pittman has scheduled a news conference at his old high school in Akron, suggesting that he plans to join Gonzalez in the draft.
Gonzalez, also an Academic All-American, said he talked to his teammates and others about leaving the university.
"This was truly the most difficult decision of my life, but I feel it is the correct decision," Gonzalez said.
The Buckeyes' No. 2 receiver, Gonzalez made 51 catches, for 734 yards and eight touchdowns in the 2006 season.
