Eagles' Sheppard out for Sunday's playoff

PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Philadelphia cornerback Lito Sheppard will miss the Eagles' NFL playoff game Sunday at New Orleans because of a dislocated elbow.

Sheppard, a Pro Bowl selection this season, injured his right arm during a run by New York's Tiki Barber in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game. Sheppard's Eagles eliminated the Giants 23-20 in the contest and advanced to a divisional playoff game against the Saints.

Rod Hood will likely replace Sheppard in the Eagles' lineup. William James, inactive last week with a calf injury, and Joselio Hanson are also expected to be used more in the New Orleans game.

Sheppard had 30 tackles in 13 games during the regular season and intercepted six passes. He returned one of those 102 yards for a touchdown.
