EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Scott Gomez had two goals and one assist Friday night to help the New Jersey Devils beat Washington, 4-3.
Patrik Elias had a goal and two assists, Sergei Brylin scored once and Martin Brodeur gave up three goals on 35 shots for the Devils, who have won two in a row and three of their last four games.

Elias' 14th goal of the season at 6:43 of the third was the eventual game-winner.
Lawrence Nycholat, Brooks Laich and Alexander Semin all scored once for Washington. Olaf Kolzig gave up four goals on 34 shots for the Capitals, who have lost three games in a row and five of six.
Both teams went 1-for-4 on the power play.
