"Everyone at Spyker was very impressed when he drove for us in 2006 (as a test driver), which is why we have worked long and hard to get him in the race team," said Spyker's Colin Kolles.

Spyker, 23, also announced Thursday that it was switch from Toyota engines to Ferrari.

Only two drivers remain to be selected for the 2007 F1 championship. Scuderia Toro Rosso Ferrari has yet to determine either of its drivers.
