PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- Alex Ovechkin had a goal and two assists Saturday night as the Washington Capitals topped the Philadelphia Flyers, 5-3.
Washington had a 2-0 lead early in the third period before the Flyers scored all of their goals to tie the game at 3-3.
Chris Clark had a goal and an assist for Washington. Bryan Muir scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the third period to give the Caps a 4-3 lead.
Brent Johnson made 33 saves on 36 shots for the Capitals, who have five wins in their last six games.
Simon Gagne had two goals and one assist for Philadelphia. Mike Knuble had one goal and one assist, and Antero Niittymaki gave up five goals on 32 shots for the Flyers, who have a three-game losing streak.
On the power play, the Flyers were 2-for-8, and Washington was 1-for-6.
