NBA: Denver 123, Miami 107

DENVER, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- J.R. Smith scored a career-high 37 points on 12-of-18 shooting Friday night as the Denver Nuggets beat Miami, 123-107.

Carmelo Anthony had 32 points and nine rebounds for Denver. Andre Miller had five points and 20 assists, and Linas Kleiza scored 15 for Denver -- which won its second straight game and its fifth out of seven.

Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem each scored 21 points for Miami. Jason Kapono scored 19 and Dorell Wright scored 11 for the Heat, which lost for the second time in its last three games.

Denver cruised to an 18-point halftime lead, and the Heat managed to close to within 11, 102-91, after three quarters. The Nuggets took control with an eight-point run to start the fourth quarter.
