MPUMALANGA, South Africa, Dec. 7 (UPI) -- Charl Schwartzel was among five players who shot 4-under-par 68 Thursday for a share of the first-round lead of the Alfred Dunhill Championship in South Africa.
Phillip Archer, Wayne De Haas, Alessandro Tadini and Oliver Wilson also carded 68s to join Schwartzel, who won the tournament two years ago, atop the leaderboard.
Seven players were one stroke back at 3-under-par 69.
Schwartzel had birdies on four of the first six holes and answered a bogey on No. 8 with another birdie on 10 for his 68.
Tadini had the wildest round of the leaders, playing the front nine in even par but overcoming three bogeys with an eagle and a birdie. He steadied himself on the back nine, posting birdies in 11 and 12 and then on 16 and 18 for a share of the lead.
