COLLEGE PARK, Md., Dec. 6 (UPI) -- No. 22 Maryland put together an 8-0 run late in the first half Wednesday night and went on to trounce Fordham, 79-59.
After the scoring outburst, the Terps held a 26-18 lead with 7 1/2 minutes remaining before the break. Their halftime lead was 39-33.
Mike Jones scored a team-high 18 points for Maryland. D.J. Strawberry and Greivis Vasquez scored 16 points apiece; while Ekene Ibekwe had nine points, three rebounds and two assists for the Terps (9-1), who bounced back from an 81-74 loss to Notre Dame Sunday.
Marcus Stout scored 20 points for Fordham. Bryant Dunston had 17 points and three rebounds for the Rams (4-3), who had a three-game winning streak snapped.
The Terps shot 56 percent from the field, while Fordham shot just 33 percent.
Maryland won the rebounding battle, 29-22.
