Chris Evert to pay $7 million in divorce

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Tennis great Chris Evert was ordered by a Florida judge to pay her ex-husband $7 million as part of their recently finalized divorce.

Monday, Fort Lauderdale Circuit Judge Arthur Birken ordered the tennis legend to pay skier Andy Mill the settlement in cash and securities in the next two days in order to finalize the end of their 18-year marriage, the Palm Beach (Fla.) Post reported.

The financial settlement was part of a swift agreement by the former couple and was primarily due to the fact that the 51-year-old Evert had a much higher earning capacity then her ex-husband.

While Evert and the 53-year-old skiing star will split their accumulated cars and homes, their three boys, ages 15, 12 and 10, will all live with their mother and enjoy visitation from their father.

"This was the worst day of my life," Mill told the Post. "Now I need to concentrate on being the best father I can be to our boys because they're the most important things in my life. Chris understands they need me as much as they need her. We need to re-establish a balance in our lives."
