MORGANTOWN, W.Va., Dec. 3 (UPI) -- Jarrett Brown hit Dorrell Jalloh for a two-point conversion in the third overtime Saturday night as No. 15 West Virginia beat No. 13 Rutgers, 41-39.
Brown, starting in place of the injured Pat White, was 14-of-29 for 244 yards and one touchdown -- and gained 73 yards rushing for the Mountaineers (10-2, 5-2 Big East). Brown connected with Brandon Myles on a 22-yard TD pass in the third overtime, and put West Virginia up, 41-33, with the two-point conversion to Jalloh.
Ray Rice then got the Scarlet Knights within striking distance with his second touchdown of the game, but was unable to haul down a pass from Mike Teel for two extra points. The loss cost Rutgers (10-2, 5-2) the Big East title and a BCS bowl appearance.
Instead, Louisville takes the Big East and the automatic BCS bid.
Rice finished with 129 yards. Teel was 19-of-26 for 278 yards and one touchdown, and Kenny Britt picked up 119 yards on 10 receptions for Rutgers -- which couldn't hold a three-point fourth-quarter lead.
West Virginia's Pat McAfee sent the game into overtime with a 30-yard field goal with 53 seconds left in regulation.
