COL FB: Wake Forest 9, Georgia Tech 6

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Dec. 2 (UPI) -- No. 16 Wake Forest won its first ACC championship since 1970 and a trip to the Orange Bowl Saturday with a rain plagued 9-6 win over No. 23 Georgia Tech.

Sam Swank kicked three field goals for Wake Forest and Travis Bell kicked two for Georgia Tech to account for all of the scoring.

Wake freshman quarterback Riley Skinner completed 14-of-25 passes for 201 yards and directed two late scoring drives, despite constant pressure and being sacked four times.

Wake Forest (11-2) will play in the Orange Bowl Jan. 2 in Miami against an opponent that is yet to be determined.

Tech senior quarterback Reggie Ball, who completed 45 percent of his passes during the regular season, completed only 9-of-29 passes -- eight of them to Calvin Johnson -- for 129 yards with two interceptions.

Tech's Tashard Choice rushed for 100 yards and Johnson finished with 117 yards receiving for the Yellow Jackets (9-4).
