BOSTON, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- A goal by Phil Kessel in the seventh round of a shootout Thursday night gave Boston a 4-3 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
On the game-winning goal, Kessel fired a shot that beat Tampa goaltender Marc Denis.
Tim Thomas then sealed the win by stopping Ruslan Fedotenkos shot at the other end.
Brad Boyes, P.J. Axelsson and Glen Murray all scored once in regulation for Boston. Patrice Bergeron had two assists and Thomas made 31 saves on 34 shots for the Bruins -- have won three of four games and seven of their last nine, with five of those games decided in overtime or shootouts.
Thomas is 8-2 in his past 10 starts.
Eric Perrin, Martin St. Louis and Vincent Lecavalier all scored once for Tampa Bay. Denis gave up three goals on 25 shots for the Lightning, who have lost two in a row following a three-game winning streak.
