PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- Free agent right-hander Adam Eaton Thursday signed a three-year, $24.5 million contract with the Philadelphia Phillies.
On its Web site, Philadelphia said the deal includes a club option for a fourth year that could bring the total value to $33 million.
"We're very happy to have Adam in the fold," said General Manager Pat Gillick. "He stabilizes our rotation and will complement the rest of our staff nicely."
The 29-year-old Eaton was a first-round draft pick by the Phillies in 1996 before he was traded to San Diego for right-hander Andy Ashby.
In his seven-year career, Eaton is 54-45 with a 4.40 ERA in 861 innings.
In only 65 innings, he was 7-4 for the Texas Rangers last season.
