NBA: Denver 140, Golden State 129

DENVER, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- J.R. Smith scored 31 points Friday night to help Denver turn back the Golden State Warriors, 140-129.

The shooting guard hit 12 of 18 shots, including 4 of 8 three-point attempts.

Carmelo Anthony totaled 30 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals for Denver. Earl Boykins had 17 points and 10 assists, while Eduardo Najera had 14 points and six rebounds for the Nuggets, who have a four-game winning streak.

Andris Biedrins had 31 points, 10 rebounds and seven turnovers for Golden State. Matt Barnes had 21 points, five rebounds and five assists; Jason Richardson scored 18 points; and Mike Dunleavy added 14 points for the Warriors, who have lost their last three games.

Golden State star guard Baron Davis (knee) did not play.

Denver led, 71-60, at the break. Both teams had 39 rebounds.
