KOCHI, Japan, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- Michelle Wie Thursday shot 9-over 81 in the first round of the Casio World Open in Kochi, Japan.
The score left her next-to-last among 102 players, 15 shots behind the event's leader.

It equaled her worst score in a men's golf tournament. She also shot 81 at the 84 Lumber Classic in Farmington, Pa., in September.
"It was frustrating, but I don't think it was the pressure," the 17-year-old Wie told the BBC. "I'm not playing that badly (and) I don't think the score reflects my play. I just need to get my confidence back with my driver."
Wie has never won in 33 LPGA appearances, and while playing in men's tournaments, she has made only one cut in 12 events.
