LaMont Jordan may be done for 2006

OAKLAND, Calif., Nov. 23 (UPI) -- Oakland Raiders running back LaMont Jordan says his season is over because of a ligament tear in his left knee.

The 5-foot-10 inch, 230-pounder -- a second-round draft pick by the New York Jets out of Maryland in 2001 -- was injured during a 12-yard first quarter run in last Sunday's 17-13 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

"I am going to miss the rest of this season," Jordan told the Oakland Tribune. "I have to get ready to return to the football team next year. Not to be selfish, but right now, I have to take care of myself and make sure I'm in the best position to help this team win next year."

Jordan has two touchdowns and 434 yards on 114 carries this season. He has

21 touchdowns and 2,736 yards on 648 carries in his career.

He played for the Jets for four of his six NFL seasons.
