SEC reprimands Tennessee's coach

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Tennessee Volunteers football coach Phillip Fulmer has been reprimanded by the Southeastern Conference for criticizing game officials.

The SEC Wednesday issued a formal reminder to Fulmer of league rules regarding comments about officiating.

"Any further violation of conference policies of this nature may result in additional penalties," warned SEC Commissioner Mike Slive.

After Fulmer's Volunteers defeated Vanderbilt 39-10 last week, the coach reportedly said the SEC needs to take a "hard look" at its game officiating. He apparently was referring to a series of calls throughout the season, including one involving a possible fumble in the Nov. 4 Louisiana State game, that have gone against Tennessee.

The Volunteers are 8-3 on the season and play Kentucky Saturday to wrap up the regular season.
