Denny Hamlin was third, Kasey Kahne fourth and Kevin Harvick was fifth.

Matt Kenseth, Scott Riggs, Carl Edwards, Johnson and Clint Bowyer rounded out the top 10.

Johnson never finished worse than fifth in the "Chase" for the cup before winning it this year.

"I think we knew in out hearts that we could do it all along, we just had some bad luck at the beginning (of the Chase)," Johnson said. "We knew this team was capable of winning a championship we just had to have some luck."

In the final standings, Kenseth was second, Harvick third, Hamlin fourth and Dale Earnhardt Jr. was fifth.
