WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Paul McCallum tied a CFL title game record with six field goals in helping the B.C. Lions to a 25-14 victory over the Montreal Alouettes in the 94th Grey Cup.
McCallum totaled 19 points in Sunday's game and Ian Smart scored on a 25-yard run as the Lions, 15-5, collected their fifth Grey Cup. Montreal, 11-9, was playing in its fifth Grey Cup game in seven years, but has won only one of those title contests.
McCallum kicked three field goals in the first quarter, converting tries of 34, 35 and 24 yards. Smart's touchdown came at the 4:12 mark of the second period, giving the Lions a 16-0 lead.
Damon Duval made a 43-yard field goal attempt for Montreal late in the half, but McCallum countered that with a 30-yarder as the half ended with the Lions ahead 19-3.
The Alouettes got a safety and a Robert Edwards 2-yard scoring run in the third period to pull within 19-12 but McCallum made fourth-quarter kicks of 21 and 47 yards to seal the victory.
