Randhawa, Lara lead at Hong Kong golf

FANLING, China, Nov. 16 (UPI) -- Jyoti Randhawa and Jose Manuel Lara each carded 6-under-par 64s Thursday for the first-round lead at the $2 million Hong Kong Open.

Graeme Storm, Gregory Bourdy and Wen-Chong Liang were tied for third at 5-under-par 65. Liang, China's top player, did most of his damage in a three-hole span in which he went birdie-eagle-birdie.

Randhawa was 1-over through six holes but posted birdies on Nos. 7 and 8 and, after a birdie at 10, beat par on three of four holes and used a final birdie tap-in on 18 to move to 6-under.

Lara played consistent bogey-free golf Thursday. Starting on the back nine, he had birdies on 11 and 12 and then 17 to make the turn at 3-under. He added birdies at Nos. 1, 3 and 8 to take a share of the lead.
