Vikes' Richardson likely out for season

MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Minnesota Viking fullback Tony Richardson was expected to be put on injured reserve this week after suffering a fracture in his right forearm

Richardson, who was nursing an injured right thumb, was hurt early in Sunday's game against the Packers but continued to play, the (Minneapolis) Star Tribune said. The injury is expected to take six weeks to heal. The Vikings have seven games remaining in the regular season.

The Vikings could move either Jeff Dugan or Jim Kleinsasser, both tight ends, to the fullback position, the Star Tribune said. Viking coach Brad Childress said the Vikings also could look beyond the organization for a fullback, the Star Tribune said.

Richardson signed as a free agent from Kansas City during the off-season. He had five carries for 12 yards and also caught 13 passes for 111 yards, including three catches in Sunday's game. Richardson was the lead blocker for running back Chester Taylor, who rushed for 763 yards on 193 carries so far this season.
