MADRID, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- World No. 1 Amelie Mauresmo of France Saturday advanced to the title match at the WTA Tour Championship in Madrid.
In a semifinal match, Mauresmo beat Belgian Kim Clijsters, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, to give herself a chance to defend her 2005 title on the last day of the season-ending tournament.
"I'm number one now, but my season is not over yet," Henin-Hardenne said. "I want to win these Championships."
Before Saturday, Sharapova had not dropped a set. She suffered her third loss in four matches against Henin-Hardenne this year.
Mauresmo spent the last 34 weeks at No. 1.
In Sunday's final, Mauresmo and Henin-Hardenne will face each other for the 11th time in their careers. They have split their previous 10 matches.
