Randhawa holds lead in Shanghai

SHANGHAI, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Jyoti Randhawa overcame early problems to card a 3-under-par 69 Friday and take a 1-stroke lead halfway through the HSBC Champions Tournament in Shanghai.

Retief Goosens, with birdies on his first three and last three holes of the round, shot 5-under 67 Friday to move within one stroke of Randhawa's 36-hole total of 10-under-par 134.

Tiger Woods, on the strength of a course-record-tying 8-under 64, and Michael Campbell, who shot 70 in the second round, were tied for third two strokes off Randhawa's lead.

Randhawa bogeyed Nos. 10 and 11 -- his first two holes of the day -- but had birdies on 12 and 13. He went under par for the day with a birdie at 16 and lowered his score with three birdies in a five-hole span. He gave a stroke back at the par-5 eighth, however.

Woods ran off a string of four consecutive birdies in his front nine. He started the back with birdies at 10 and 11 but had a bogey at 13. He answered that with an eagle on the 14th and just missed an eagle putt on 18.
