NBA: Minnesota 112, Denver 109

DENVER, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Led by Kevin Garnett's 27 points and 15 rebounds Friday night, Minnesota beat the Denver Nuggets, 112-109.

It was a tough home-opener setback for the Nuggets, who were beaten by the Clippers in Los Angeles, 96-95, Thursday night.

Timberwolves' rookie forward Craig Smith had 20 points and five rebounds. Ricky Davis had 19 points, three rebounds and six assists. And Mike James had 18 points, three rebounds and four assists.

Minnesota has won its first two games after a 92-83 win at Sacramento Wednesday.

Carmelo Anthony, who was ejected from Thursday's loss after being called for two technical fouls, had 28 points and five rebounds. Earl Boykins had 28 points, seven assists and three rebounds. And Andre Miller added 18 points, four rebounds and 12 assists for the Nuggets.
