PARIS, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Roger Federer, the top-ranked tennis player in the world, has withdrawn from this week's Master's Series tournament in Paris.
Federer cited exhaustion in pulling out of the event. He played -- and won -- tournaments the past two weeks. Russia's Teimuraz Gabashvili was selected to replace Federer in the Paris tournament.
World No. 2 Rafael Nadal, recovering from an abdominal injury, has also said he won't play in Paris this week.
The Paris tournament is the final event before the Tennis Masters Cup in Shanghai, set to begin Nov. 13.
