PISCATAWAY, N.J., Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Ray Rice rushed for 79 yards and one touchdown on 22 carries Sunday night, as 15th-ranked Rutgers beat Connecticut, 24-13.
His rushing total was a season-low for him.
Jamaal Westerman forced two turnovers -- a fumble and a blocked punt -- that led to touchdowns. Mike Teel was 11-for-24 for 123 yards and one interception for the Scarlet Knights (8-0, 3-0 Big East), who at one point led, 17-0.
D.J. Hernandez was just 8-for-17 for 67 yards and one interception, and had his second-quarter fumble recovered for a touchdown by Manny Collins. Donald Brown ran for a career-high 199 yards and two touchdowns for the Huskies (3-5, 0-3), who have lost two straight and four of their last five games.
The Scarlet Knights, who are having their best season since 1976, next play fifth-ranked Louisville at home on Nov. 9.
